Ever wanted to dine with your feet in the sand? Or had dinner on the beach, watching the sunset? If not, I recommend that you have this dining on the beach experience with your toes in the sand. The Flying Fishbone in Aruba will go down as my all-time favorite dining experience!!
From the moment you walk in the entrance of the Flying Fishbone, it is a magical experience.
There is a small amount of seating indoors, if you prefer. But the ultimate experience is to dine outside. There are two levels to the outdoor dining area. The section we sat in, was feet in the sand, which is what is pictured directly below. The lower section of the restaurant is dining with your feet in the ocean.
The tables are very elegant and the wait staff is wonderful. The view and overall experience was absolutely lovely. There is something magical about taking your shoes off and having your toes in the sand. Not to mention having the Caribbean sea right in front of you and watching the sunset over the water as you dine. Our table was dead center, 3 deep. So we were right at the edge of the top section and had a perfect view overlooking the lower level and no obstruction to the water. Plus, it was the perfect area for people watching.
I don't recall exactly what we ate, I think I was so mesmerized by the view and setting. But I do recall enjoying our meal. Everyone was happy with their choices.
What I recall is all three of us being in the moment, saying 'wow' by the views and let me tell you, sitting in a sun dress, with your toes in the soft sand, watching the sun set over the water! It does not get any better than that!
The mahi mahi was cooked very well. So flaky and delicious.

There is something different about sunsets on an island over the water.

Our dinner reservations were for 5:30 pm. The sun was already past the upper part of the restaurant by that time. But if you want to sit with your toes in the water (lower section) and do not want to eat and get a tan, I recommend you wait until about 6 or after to have dinner. The best thing to do for any of the restaurants (off hotel property) is to ask them about the sun location when you make your reservations. Most of the restaurants in the city do not have air conditioning, so sitting inside would be warm, you get more of a breeze outside.

I knew my kids enjoyed it as well, when they started taking pictures and posting. Score one for mom!
We tried 4 offsite restaurants while we were in Aruba. Make sure you check out my Instagram page to see some pictures from Wacky Wahoos. (Another must do stop) But the Flying Fish will go down in the books as unforgettable! It hit all the marks for me: view, entrance, awe, service, setting and food. I highly recommend you make this a must-do on your visit!
Cheers,
Lisa
